This training is suitable for individuals, companies and organisations and will provide participants with the knowledge and skills to make them confident and competent to respond to workplace emergencies and evacuation. This includes but is not limited to the following components -

  • Prepare for Emergency Situations
  • Report Emergencies and Potential Emergencies
  • Respond to Emergency Warnings and Advice
  • Evacuate from the Work Area

Course details

Purpose: This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide preparation for an emergency situation, report potential and real emergencies, respond and evacuate from a work area. This unit covers the competency required to recognise emergencies in the workplace, to report emergencies and to take appropriate action.

Course Format: This course is flexible depending on the clients needs, however a minimum duration of 3 hours is required.

Assessment: Distance learning workbook, practical continuous assessments during face-to-face and a short theory exam.
A summative assessment occurs at the end of the training and assesses a whole of course approach a measure of accountability or what has been learnt after the learning process has taken place e.g. formal test or final practical assessment
Formative assessments occurs during the course when content is being taught and learned and should continue throughout the period of learning and is not meant to assign competency

Qualification issued: Students who successfully complete this nationally recognised training will be awarded the statement of attainment: PUAWER004B Respond to workplace emergencies.

Students who successfully completed this qualification may be eligible for entry into further study such as:
Certificate III in Public Safety (Community Safety) PUA31404
