Course details

Purpose:

This unit of competency describes the skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to infants, children and adults.

The unit applies to educators and support staff working within an education and care setting who are required to responde to a first aid emergency, including asthmatic and anaphyalctic emergencies. This unit of competency will contribute towards approved first aid, asthma and anaphyalxis training under the Education and Care Services National Law, and the Education and Care Services National Regulation (2011).

This unit of competency has been approved by ACECQA and meets the requirements of “First Aid, Asthma & Anaphylaxis”.

Course Format:
ON-SITE COURSE: available for childcare centres during or after hours or weekends

PreCourse Study Options:
There are a number of different options for completing the pre-course study;

The pre course study includes a question paper consisting of 38 multi choice questions. You must take the completed paper with you to the training course.
Pre-Requisite:
There is no pre-requisite for this course except you must be physically able to complete 2 minutes of CPR on the floor using a mannikin
Assessment:
 Group activities and oral questioning throughout the course
 Practical demonstrations/skills assessments.
Qualification issued:
Statement of attainment
Certificate refresher course is recommended every 3 years. The student is responsible for the revision every three years to remain current.
